SAGE Group named one of SA’s top 50 most successful businesses
SAGE Group has claimed a spot inside the top 50 of InDaily’s South Australian Business Index 2022, an annual list ranking the top 100 SA businesses.
The annual index, coordinated by SA independent news outlet InDaily and conducted by financial services firm Taylor Collison, uses a market capitalisation formula that factors in revenue, profit margins, and more to determine rankings.
During the 2021-22 financial year, SAGE brought in $152m in revenue – an increase of more than $30m – and finished the year with 630 employees, up more than 100 from the previous year.
This significant growth resulted in SAGE being ranked as the 46th most successful business in SA, rising 11 places from last year to produce its best index finish to date.
“Gaining recognition in our home state is a great reminder of where we’ve come from, to the global company we are today,” Group Managing Director Adrian Fahey said.
“This result speaks to a culture of growth and collaboration embraced wholeheartedly by every person across the SAGE Group.”
Businesses must be a South Australian entity incorporated in SA, have a head office in SA, or be an SA-operated entity, majority owned by South Australians to be eligible for the index.
Although now a global company, SAGE’s journey began in South Australia in 1994, delivering successful industrial automation projects for several years before expanding into a wider digitalisation offering.
Following numerous strategic acquisitions, today, the SAGE Group of companies include SAGE Automation, Nukon, Skills Lab, Embedded Expertise, and Traffic Control Systems, in addition to two new digital product offerings acquired in the past 12 months.

One of the products is Addinsight, which provides road, transport, and council authorities in Australia and New Zealand with critical real-time traffic information through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, helping to reduce congestion in major road networks and local communities.
TilliT, on the other hand, is an award-winning digital platform helping manufacturers of all sizes to go paperless and digitalise through one out-of-the-box cloud application designed to improve human efficiency by supporting operators in frontline roles.
In early 2022, SAGE launched its Digital Key model, combining the capabilities of all the SAGE Group companies to provide clients with a unified outlook on digital transformation journeys.
“Industrial digitalisation can mean something different from one business to the next, depending on the unique requirements of a sector or the goals of a business,” said Mr Fahey.
“The Digital Key helps our customers to see how our comprehensive service offering comes together as one to support end-to-end digitalisation.”
SAGE’s Digital Key supports digital transformation journeys using its unique Group approach.
We look forward to sharing some exciting projects over the next 12 months showcasing more of this Group approach, including a recent ground-breaking transport collaboration between SAGE Automation and Addinsight.
As the business continues to grow, we are always looking for people who embody the Smart, Ambitious, Genuine, and Exceptional SAGE values.
