More than 120 SAGE employees and their friends and families ran in the City to Bay this weekend. And it was for a good cause: they United to Fight against Multiple Myeloma.

SAGE is raising crucial funds to support University of South Australia research into a new treatment option for Multiple Myeloma patients.

SAGE founder and Managing Director Andrew Downs began the campaign for his friend of 38 years, Brian Skinner who has been battling Multiple Myeloma since 2017.

At the time of publishing, the fund — Unite The Fight, Beat Multiple Myeloma — was the highest run fundraiser with more than $43,000 donated towards the cause.

"We couldn’t be more grateful to the SAGE community for giving. Our friends, vendors, clients, partners and employees have all united in this fight. It’s a cause close to our hearts," Andrew said. "This is the first of many fundraising activities to reach our goal of $200,000."

The funds will support UniSA’s Molecular Signalling Laboratory in the Centre for Cancer Biology.

As for Brian, he's pleased the message is getting out there.

“I’m really overwhelmed at how many people are getting behind this cause. Multiple Myeloma is a little-known disease that doesn’t have a cure, and this research is about finding a way to keep it in remission,” Brian said.

“The more education we can get out there about this disease the better and I thank everyone who is supporting us.”
